Carolina Beach, N.C. Fishing Charters
20 minutes south of Wilmington, North Carolina, you will find Carolina Beach, one of the hottest fishing locations in the Cape Fear area. Carolina Beach is the outlet for the Cape Fear River, which brings a rich variety of marine life to this scenic coastline. Schools of baitfish offshore attract large numbers of the most popular sport fish species. Wahoo, dolphin (mahi-mahi), sailfish, marlin, tuna and mackerel are common offshore catches in the Gulf Stream waters offshore. Near shore bottom fishing is superb for grouper, snapper, triggerfish, shark, and black bass.
When not on the water, Carolina Beach has a lot to offer visitors as well. Miles of white sandy beaches and scenic views make for a picturesque backdrop. Enjoy swimming, snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, hiking, biking, or have a 4x4 adventure right on the beach—the only beach in the area where 4x4’s are allowed. Keep an eye out for wild Venus fly traps that grow naturally throughout the Carolina Beach area.
The Fort Fisher Aquarium is a short, 10 minute drive from Carolina Beach where you can get up close and personal with alligators, sharks, and many other marine species.
But the greatest draw for any angler in Carolina Beach is always the fishing. The Carolina Beach area is home to several fishing tournaments throughout the year, and great charter fishing is available year round.
As the water heats up in spring and summer, so does the offshore fishing with outstanding catches of marlin, wahoo, dolphin (mahi-mahi), sailfish, and mackerel common. Good fishing continues throughout the year, with great catches of trout, bass, king mackerel, shark and more available in the fall and winter months. Many species inhabit these waters throughout the year, but may follow the bait fish as water temperatures change. An experienced captain, like Keith Green of the Fish Dance, is an invaluable resource in helping you find the fish. Captain Keith has been fishing the Carolina Beach waters for over 30 years and understands the fishing trends. He knows the hot spots and can help guide you to a successful, and exciting charter fishing adventure.
